FAQ

What is Fanklub and how is it working?

Dear musicians & bands, dear music lovers,

We're glad you're interested in Fanklub!
At Fanklub, fans receive exclusive content from their favourite artists and support them with a small financial contribution in return.
Through this, bands finally have the opportunity to make a monthly income and become more independent from the usual music business structures.

On this page, we try to answer all your questions.
For further inquiries, please contact us directly via Mail: contact(at)fanklub.com

Thanks again for being here and have fun with Fanklub!

  • Who is Fanklub for? Can every band and musician join?

We, the founders of Fanklub, are passionate music lovers and want to create a new platform, where the music is in the foreground. Unlike other platforms, only bands, Djs and musicians are allowed to register on Fanklub! Starting with absolute newcomers up to established acts: You are all welcome to Fanklub.

Age group, genre and origin do not matter. Fanklub stands for openness, diversity and tolerance. Sexist, racist, national socialist or homophobic content will not be tolerated.

  • How is the money distributed?

From the fan contributions the legal VAT and the fee of the respective payment service provider (Paypal, credit card, etc.) will be deducted.
10% of contributions go to Fanklub and 90% of the proceeds go to the band!

For the musicians and bands the use of Fanklub is completely free of charge. Fans pay a fee for each fan club membership: at least 1,99€ per month, but more can be paid on a voluntary basis - pay what you want!
It is also possible to purchase an annual membership, in which case fans pay a minimum of 19,92€ per year (paying for ten months instead of twelve).
Initial experience shows: Many fans are willing to pay a higher amount. Each and every one as they can!

  • What content is available for fans without a membership?

The basic information of the bands, such as welcome videos, tour dates, photos and music playlists are free and accessible to all users. This means that even users who may not know the bands very well can find out more about them. All exclusive content can be seen by becoming a member of the Fanklub in question.

  • In which languages is Fanklub available?

At the moment, Fanklub is available in German and English. However, the language in which the bands communicate with their fans is, of course, entirely up to them.

  • As a musician, can I also become a member of other bands' Fanklub and support them in this way?

    You can!
On Fanklub you register as a private person. Let's say your name is Erika Shmoe.
You can creat a username when registering, for example "Erika". "Erika" can now open a Fanklub for her band "Erika´s Gang" and manage it (and add more band members) and at the same time,  "Erika" can also become a fan in clubs of other bands.

PS: If Erika plays in other bands or is a manager of a band, this is also not a problem. Via the administration of the "band members" in the backstage of Fanklub, as many users as desired can be added.

  • Can different members of my band use the same account?

No, each band member should register themselves.
Via the administration of "band members" in the backstage of the Fanklub, registered users can be added and become part of the band fan club.

  • Does it cost anything for bands to use Fanklub?

No, for bands, the use of Fanklub is completely free.
Instead; Fanklub´s goal is bands having a regular income.

Fans pay a fee for each fan club membership: at least 1,99€ per month, but more can be paid on a voluntary basis - pay what you want!

  • How can I earn money on the platform? How and how often do I get paid?

For the musicians and bands, the use of Fanklub is completely free of charge. Fans pay a fee for each fan club membership: at least 1,99€ per month, but more can be paid on a voluntary basis - pay what you want!
It is also possible to purchase an annual membership, in which case fans pay a minimum of 19,92€ per year (i.e. discounted for ten months instead of twelve).
Initial experience shows: Many fans are willing to pay a higher amount. Each and every one as he and she can!

90% of the contribution proceeds go to the bands. Fanklub transfers the monthly fan contributions to the bands every four weeks, at the latest by the 10th day of the following month.
The bands simply enter their bank account details and billing address in the Fanklub Backstage.
The minimum payment amount is 35 euros.

  • Do fans have to have an account on Fanklub.com to support bands?

Yes! To become a member of the Fanklub of your favourite band, you first have to register and create a username.

  • Are there different membership models that fans can use to support their favourite band?

No. We have deliberately decided that there should be no difference on Fanklub between fans with more or less money to spend.
Every fan gets full access to the Fanklub content, regardless of whether the minimum subscription (of 1,99€/month) or more money has been paid.
Bands have the option to filter top payers to thank them separately, for example.

  • What kind of interaction possibilities are there between bands and fans? What content can bands share?

The Fanklub is comparable to a social media feed: Bands can create posts and fans can view them and comment on them. The type of posts is diverse: bands can share photos, videos (via Youtube or Spotify), songs (via Soundcloud or Spotify) or links.
Besides that, bands can create raffles and start livestreams: directly on the platform and of course all without hidden fees.

In addition, there is fan mail, the direct messaging tool between bands and fans. The special thing about it for bands: the target groups can be filtered so that, for example, a direct message can be sent to all fans from a certain city. The best (because most direct and targeted) tool to let people know about the upcoming concert!

Fans will receive a mail notification in their inbox when new posts are created or when a message is sen in the fan mail.

We are working every day to develop new features. In the future, for example, there wil also be a newsletter function.
If you are missing a certain function: Please write us, we are looking forward to your feedback!

  • Is it possible to organize crowdfunding on Fanklub?

Currently, it is not yet possible to organize crowdfunding within Fanklub. Fanklub's basic idea instead relies on the fact that bands will be able to finance their creations through regular fan contributions.

Nevertheless, we also think that crowdfunding is a great tool! So in the future, it may be possible to promote special projects within the fan club and fund them through a one-time payment from the fans.
Again, if this feature is important to you, let us know and we will move it up in priority!

  • Can I sell my own merch through Fanklub?

    Yes, but only indirectly:

So far, merch products can be advertised with a product image. Clicking on the picture then leads to an external shop like Bandcamp or the band's website.

Dear bands: If the integration of a store system within Fanklub is important to you, let us know and we will move it up in our priority!

  • Can I start a live stream on Fanklub?

Yes, a live stream can be started in FanKlub with just a few clicks!

Directly on the page, without needing external players.

Fans will receive an email notification when a live stream begins.

  • Who can I contact if I have additional questions?

As the founders of Fanklub, we are happy to answer any further questions you may have.

You can send us an email to kontakt(at)fanklub.com

  • Is there a Fanklub app?

Yes, you can find the Fanklub app in the corresponding app stores:
Apple App Store & Google Play Store for Android

  • How can i change the setting of the language?

At the very bottom right of the homepage you will find the language changer: 'de' stands for German, 'en' for English. Clicking on the respective icon changes the set language.

In the app, the language is automatically adapted to the device setting: For example, if the device is used in German, the Fanklub app will automatically appear in German as well. For all other languages, the Fanklub app is displayed in English.
